Over the past several weeks Rusev has been receiving a ton of love from the WWE Universe for his famed "Rusev Day" gimmick.

Rusev has aligned himself with Aiden English, who praises Rusev and Rusev day with his singing ability (or lack there of), and the pair get a tremendous reaction whenever they come out to the ring. There's been a huge push from the WWE Universe to see the pair win the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles.

Unfortunately for Rusev and English they have come up short in each of their title opportunities, and lost out on the No. 1-contenders spot on last night's SmackDown Live after Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin defeated them and The New Day in a Triple Threat Tag Team match.

Aside from the loss, Rusev and English has something to smile about after the show's end. To open up the show SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan updated the WWE Universe on the status of the United States Championship after Dolph Ziggler seemingly walked out on the company.

Bryan was interrupted by Gable and Benjamin who were more interested in the title picture for the SmackDown Live Tag Titles. Rusev and English then came out to an amazing reaction from the crowd. Check out that reaction here:

English sang himself and Rusev to the ring and laid their claim to the No. 1-contender position before being put in the Triple Threat Tag Team match by Bryan. While the Tag Titles may seem out of reach for Rusev and English for now, another opportunity could come their way soon enough.

There's also a possibility Rusev reverts back to a singles career with English as his manager. Now that the United States Title is vacant, that possibility is stronger more than ever.

What are your thoughts on the huge reception that Rusev and his Rusev Day gimmick has been receiving over the past several weeks? Do you think that there's a possibility Rusev and English could win the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles down the road? Or will Rusev transition into a singles competitor with English as his manager? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
