This weekend one of the greatest fights in the history of women's mixed martial arts (MMA) will be taking place, as UFC women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg defends her title against former UFC women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm.
Cyborg has been a force in women's MMA for several years now, not having lost a fight since her professional MMA debut. The Brazilian powerhouse is a fierce knockout artist and is considered to be one of the greatest female fighters of all time.
Holly Holm has racked up quite a resume herself after she became the first woman to ever defeat Ronda Rousey inside MMA competition via second round knockout back in November of 2015.
She also participated in the inaugural women's featherweight title match with Germaine de Randamie, however, she lost the fight via controversial decision.
For two of the most recognized names in female MMA history to go head-to-head with one another is a rarity, so fans are in for quite a treat come UFC 219 this weekend.
Just 10 pounds below the featherweight division is Brazilian knockout artist and UFC women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
Nunes is making a case for being a legendary name in women's MMA history as well, having defeated both Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate - two pioneers for female MMA fighters.
Nunes' American Top Team coach Conan Silveira recently did an interview with Portal do Vale Tudo and revealed that Nunes is keeping her eye on this weekend's featherweight title fight and could potentially chase a fight with either Holm or Cyborg next (quotes via MMA Mania):
"We have the utmost respect for Cyborg and Holm, it’d be a great fight with either one," American Top Team coach Silveira said in an interview with Portal do Vale Tudo.
"But we believe Amanda could be champion in both divisions, because she has all the tools for that.
"She is an extremely well rounded fighter and has been showing that she does deserve to face the winner. That’s our main focus for 2018.
"Of course we know she has no way to defend two belts," he continued. "But that decision would be taken after her fight against the Cyborg vs. Holm winner."
What are your thoughts on a possible match-up between Nunes and either Cyborg or Holly Holm? How do you think the UFC bantamweight champ would fare against either one of these ladies?
