Jack Wilshere is well and truly back to his best for Arsenal.

He started his fourth consecutive Premier League game for the Gunners against Crystal Palace on Thursday evening and produced arguably his best performance of the season.

Using his acceleration, balance and creativity, Wilshere bossed it in the middle of the park and deserved Man of the Match for his stunning assist alone.

Wilshere pinged an inch-perfect pass over Palace's defence for Alexis Sanchez to make it 3-1 and bag his second of the night.

Unfortunately for Wilshere, though, Sanchez's brace meant the Chilean was named Man of the Match instead.

It's onwards and upwards for the England hopeful and he even admitted in his post-match interview that he's noticed improvements in his game.

"I was happy with my form last year. I'm probably playing better now. I feel fitter and I am enjoying my football," Wilshere told Sky Sports.

"This (Selhurst Park) is a difficult place to come and we have adapted to different types of football. We hit them twice on the counter."

Arsenal fans are loving Wilshere's resurgent form and now an impressive highlights reel has emerged of his performance during the 3-1 win over Palace.

Wilshere may be on the fringes of the England squad right now, but he's Gareth Southgate's best option in midfield for next year's World Cup in Russia.

JACK WILSHERE VS CRYSTAL PALACE

Just look at that assist - it's no wonder some of Arsenal's players went to congratulate Wilshere before celebrating with Sanchez in the corner.

The 25-year-old is looking more and more confident every week, as evidenced by his range of passing and ability to drive past opponents in tight spaces.

Palace's midfield couldn't get near him and the most exciting thing for Arsenal fans is that he's only going to get better with more game time.

So, where's the new contract at? Wilshere's current deal expires in the summer but he and Arsene Wenger are confident an extension can be finalised.

"We need to sit down with him. Beginning of January, it's planned," said Wenger. "There is no delay. I told him we want to meet and sit down with him to talk about the future. That's what I did."

And Wilshere added: "I spoke to the boss and he said he will speak to me, so we'll see when he speaks to me. I am sure it will be done."
