You never really know what you're getting with Chelsea this season. The Blues have quietly wracked up impressive results throughout the campaign and look nailed on for a top four place, but remain a hearty 16 points from retaining their Premier League crown. And while hunting down Manchester City seems completely unrealistic now, Antonio Conte's men are breathing down the neck of United. The visit of a struggling Stoke City side to Stamford Bridge always posed a promising opportunity for the Blues to usurp Jose Mourinho and co., even if just for a few hours.Nevertheless, the hectic winter schedule forced Conte to make a number of changes for the clash - dropping the likes of Eden Hazard and Andreas Christensen to the bench. There was also no place for Tiemoue Bakayoko who, procured from AS Monaco in the summer, has endured a difficult start to life in west London. The Frenchman has been far from terrible in a Chelsea shirt but few games go by without supporters lamenting his showing on Twitter. So, all eyes were on Danny Drinkwater, a fellow new signing, when the Englishman was selected in the place of Bakayoko.Let's just say he impressed the Chelsea faithful, and then some.Stoke entered half-time 3-0 down with Drinkwater etching his name on the scoresheet with a spectacular volley. His overall performance was simply glorious, too.Take a look at the reaction:

So it's fair to say, if Chelsea fans had anything to do with the selection, that Drinkwater playing above Bakayoko would be a permanent move.

There's only so much you can tell from one game, but Bakayoko has had more than that to turn things around.
