With a second consecutive home loss, the New Orleans Pelicans drop to 18-18 in the Western Conference which is a fair reflection of how their season is going.Saturday's night's narrow 105-103 defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks followed a setback against the Dallas Mavericks the previous night. The Pelicans have struggled to sustain any level of consistency throughout the year and their record shows that. But they're still in the playoff picture and things are at least looking better than they did last season. However, the two losses came against teams that entered the encounters against New Orleans with a worse record than them.Point guard Jarrett Jack knocked down the game-winning free throws to seal the win for the Knicks at Smoothie King Center. The only consolation for the Pels was that the highlight play on the night belonged to Anthony Davis. The big man received the ball in the left corner and after Kristaps Porzingis committed himself by going for the steal, AD spun and drove down the baseline and threw down a vicious slam right in the face of Ron Baker.

The Knicks guard bravely attempted to challenge the dunk at the rim but ended up being put on a poster by Davis and also received an inadvertent elbow from the Pelicans star in the process to add to his humiliation.

Baker never really stood a chance of stopping the dunk but it showed his effort and hustle in willing to at least try but he sure didn't expect things to end as badly as they did.

He received three stitches in his cheek after getting clocked by Davis's elbow. He also finished the game scoreless in nine minutes of action.

The good news for the 24-year-old, however, is that New York came away with the win so that play is just a footnote in a good night for the men from the Big Apple.

They managed to survive after Davis, who had 31 points and nine rebounds, missed a potential game-winning three-pointer just before the buzzer.

After playing three home games in four nights, New Orleans plays six of its next eight games on the road starting with a tough matchup against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The Knicks will return home to host the San Antonio purs at Madison Square Garden after snapping a four-game losing streak.
