Pep Guardiola's reaction after Gabriel Jesus broke down in tears after his injury

Crystal Palace v Manchester City - Premier League

Manchester City knew a win against Crystal Palace would put them an incredible 16 points clear before the New Year and almost guarantee them the Premier League title already.

But the match got off to a slow start at Selhurst Park.

Palace’s Scott Dann suffered a serious-looking injury after clashing with Kevin de Bruyne. The defender was down for several minutes before being stretchered off.

Then, just minutes later, Gabriel Jesus was in tears.

The Brazilian suffered with what looked to be a groin injury before he collapsed on the floor in tears. While his injury didn’t appear too serious at first, he clearly knew something bad had happened and was inconsolable.

Maybe he feared his injury would have an impact on the rest of City’s season and, potentially, the World Cup in the summer.

Take a look at the moment it happened - and Guardiola beautifully comforting him by patting him on the head and having a quiet word:

While Jesus was understandably devastated, you couldn’t blame City fans for not being too worried.

After all, they immediately brought on Sergio Aguero.

But it looks as though City could be without the 20-year-old for quite a while if his reaction is anything to go by.

And Guardiola’s side will no doubt miss his goals as they go for the quadruple. While Aguero has been given the nod more often than Jesus this season, the wonderkid has still scored 10 goals in all competitions this season - including eight in 16 league matches.

Arsenal fans might fear Jesus being ruled out for a long time as well. With the January transfer window set to open, City have been linked with Alexis Sanchez with the Chilean's contract set to expire in six months time.
