The Bill Belichick experience is a wild ride full of twists and turns, and we saw a new version of his incredible mind-games today as the Patriots lined up to face the New York Jets.Belichick thinks of everything. That attention to detail is what makes him possibly the greatest coach in NFL history and has seen him win five Super Bowl Championships. And that thinking of everything includes ways to get inside the heads of other teams and their coaches. He has done that today and it is genuinely amazing - and perfectly Belichick-ian. According to a report from Diana Russini, one of ESPN's NFL reporters, Belichick has had the ground crew at Gilette Stadium install thermometers around the stadium - but mainly only at places that the Jets will see them.

Russini wrote: "A source with the Patriots tells me Bill Belichick ordered the field crew to place these thermometers inside the Jets tunnel so New York is reminded how cold it is. Mental warfare. #Patriots"

Temperatures at Foxboro are well below the freezing mark, with the current mark being -11 degrees Celsius.

It seems that the 65-year-old head coach is trying to break the spirit of the Jets players and get their minds off just the game at hand.

And Belichick didn’t just stop at the Jets’ tunnel, according to ESPN’s Russini…

"Apparently I’m on thermometer patrol. Thermometers places behind Jets bench. None behind the Patriots. #dundundun" she wrote.

Will this all make a difference in the grand scheme of things? I doubt it. These are professional football players after all that have experience of playing in the cold. But at the end of a season where the Jets are confirmed to have missed the Playoffs, well it might break their spirit a tad.

There's just something funny about a long-time coach, who will no doubt be focused on assignments and blitzing schemes, taking the time out to get grounds crew to bring in some thermometers. It's just amazing dedication to the game.
