The 2017 WWE year is in the books and what a memorable year it has been.

This year has seen the rise of Braun Strowman to the main event picture in WWE, Roman Reigns defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania, the return of Goldberg to the company, Brock Lesnar's Universal Title win, the debut of Samoa Joe to the main roster, and so much more.

When you look back at all of the great feuds and main events of pay-per-views (PPVs) from this past year, one notices that a lot of names stick out on match cards more than others.

Several Superstars have essentially solidified themselves as main eventers for their respective brands.

Cageside Seats recently took notice of this, and compiled a list of which Superstars have been in the main event of PPVs the most this year in 2017. They did not count the Royal Rumble match in their list.

The list can be found here below (courtesy of IWNerd):

5 matches: Braun Strowman

4 matches: Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe

3 matches: Kevin Owens, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal, AJ Styles

2 matches: Shane McMahon, Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, John Cena, The Miz, Dean Ambrose

1 match: Dolph Ziggler, Undertaker, Goldberg, Sami Zayn, Kane, Cesaro, Sheamus, HHH, Bobby Roode

Multi-person matches, such as the Survivor Series RAW vs. SmackDown Live match or the TLC main event between The Shield and the team of The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kane, and The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) did count on this list.

Had multi-person matches not been counted, Jinder Mahal would have led the list with three main event matches in 2017. He won the WWE Championship from Randy Orton and established himself as a new top heel on SmackDown Live.

With Roman Reigns expected to win the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34 next year, it can be expected that "The Big Dog" will be pretty high on this list once 2018 comes to an end this time next year.

What are your thoughts on Braun Strowman having main evented the most WWE PPVs this year in 2017? Do you think that he can keep that first place position next year in 2018? And how impressed have you been with "The Monster Among Men's" rise to the top of the WWE main event card? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
