Arsenal look to be favorites in the race to sign Nice forward Loic Remy after he pleaded with his club to let him join the Premier League side.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the French international and was reportedly close to signing the player in the summer.

French side Lyon are also keen on signing the 23-year-old and have already had three bids rejected for the player they sold two years ago.

Wenger wants to add more firepower to his strike force in the summer, after an injury to Robin Van Persie earlier in the season left Arsenal short in attack.

Remy has now admitted that he is desperate to play for Arsenal and is quoted by the Daily Mail, saying: “My preference would be Arsenal over Lyon.”

“I won't hide it. They are a young team with a developing game and with ambitions.”

“I really take pleasure in watching them play. It is an ideal place to continue to progress.”

“You never know in football what will happen. But Arsenal are a club that make me feel desire.”
