Due to a loss to the Arizona Cardinals yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season. However, at one point it was reported that more than just their postseason run was coming to an end.Following their 26-24 defeat to the Cardinals at CenturyLink Field, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported that Pete Carroll “may” retire in the offseason with the Seahawks possibly looking at a rebuild ahead of the 2018 season. This caused a brief panic in Seattle, as Carroll had been the reason why the team has been so successful over the past eight seasons, becoming their best head coach in franchise history by winning two NFC crowns (2013, 2014) as well as a Super Bowl title during the 2013 season.Carroll, however, seeing the concern amongst Seahawks fans, did what he does best and defused the situation, with a simple, yet perfect response to the retirement rumors in one tweet. The head coach said: "People talking about retirement... I ain’t old enough to think about retiring! 🕺"

At the age of 66, Carroll is the oldest head coach in the NFL today, but it doesn't look like he will be going anywhere anytime soon, which is sure to bring smiles to the faces of Seahawks fans despite the disappointment in failing to reach the playoffs on Sunday.

The Seahawks lost 26-24 to the Cardinals at CenturyLink Field yesterday, as a missed Blair Walsh field goal in the dying embers of the game denied them a spot in the postseason. Russell Wilson finished the game completing 18 of his 29 passing attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Carroll has achieved a 79-47-1 record as head coach of the Seahawks over the past eight seasons, giving him a win percentage of .626. He'll be looking to rebuild the team ahead of what looks to be an even more challenging 2018 season due to the rise of the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West.
