Liverpool ended 2017 in the Premier League top four after coming from behind to beat Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday.
The Merseysiders travelled to high-flying Burnley on New Year's Day, and due to both injuries and business of the festive period, Jurgen Klopp rung the changes at Turf Moor.
Star men Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah didn't make the squad and Roberto Firmino was rotated to the bench, with summer signing Dominic Solanke replacing him.

Given the absence of Coutinho, James Milner and Jordan Henderson from his starting XI, Klopp had a pretty big decision to make with regards to who would captain his side at Burnley.
In the end, he went for goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, and it's fair to say that Liverpool supporters were less than impressed with their German manager's choice of skipper.
Mignolet captains Liverpool's first game of 2018
Having made over 200 appearances for Liverpool, Mignolet is one of the most experienced and longest-serving players in the current squad.
However, since moving to Anfield from Sunderland in 2013, the Belgian 'keeper has also produced a number of high-profile errors which have led to goals.
With that said, many Liverpool fans took to Twitter once they found out that the 29-year-old would wear the armband at Burnley to vent their frustrations.
Liverpool fans react on Twitter
Most felt offended to have Mignolet as captain, some questioned Klopp for the decision, whilst others claimed that it should have been Adam Lallana instead - on his first start this season.
Check out the best of the reaction below:
The majority of Reds fans are in agreement that their club must replace Mignolet with a world-class shot-stopper in order to mount a serious title challenge over the coming years.
Next up for Liverpool is a mouth-watering FA Cup derby against Everton at Anfield before hosting runaway leaders Manchester City in the Premier League.
