It looks like former WWE United States Champion Rusev's new "Rusev Day" gimmick has been paying off, as the company is set to give him quite a big push on SmackDown Live.

For the past several weeks Rusev has been paired up with Aiden English in which they have been pushing "Rusev Day." English sings for Rusev to hype up "Rusev Day" and the WWE Universe absolutely loves it. They are one of the most over tag teams on SmackDown Live today.

They recently failed to capture the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles at Clash Of Champions, and weren't able to lock up the No. 1-contender's spot for the titles either. But fear not, because it seems like WWE will be going a different route with Rusev.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE's decision to make the United States Title Tournament was to help jump start Rusev's big push.

Rusev isn't in the tournament as of this writing, but it's expected the tournament will end with Rusev turning babyface and winning the United States Title.

There is also some speculation going around that Rusev will be working a program with English after he captures the title. For those of you who don't know, the tournament started a few weeks ago after Dolph Ziggler relinquished the United States Title.

Ziggler won the belt in a Triple Threat match against Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode at Clash Of Champions, but seemingly relinquished the belt after walking out on the company in a storyline angle.

Perhaps when the United States Championship Tournament concludes a Ladder Match will occur between the winner and Ziggler to determine who the real champion is. This is a storyline that has occurred several times before in WWE.

What are your thoughts on WWE's plans to have Rusev and his new 'Rusev Day' gimmick pushed on SmackDown Live soon? Do you think that the United States Championship Tournament could see Rusev enter an emerge victorious when it's all said and done? Or will they find another way to get the United States Title around "The Bulgarian Brute's" waist? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
