Rob Cross produced one of the greatest performances in World Championship history on Monday night.

The former electrician denied the retiring Phil Taylor a 17th world title with a stunning 7-2 victory at Alexandra Palace.

All eyes were on Taylor going into the final on Monday night, but it soon became apparent that Cross wasn't there just to make up the numbers.

In fact, it was far from that.

Cross turned up to spoil Taylor's farewell party, and that's exactly what he did, defeating the veteran 7-2 and winning his first ever world title.

Beating 'The Power' is great no matter when it happens, but it happening just 12 months after you were an amateur is pretty special.

But, it wasn't just the fact he beat him, it's how he beat him, dropping just two sets on the night.

This also came after Cross managed to defeat Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final, which in itself was a major shock.

Cross, going into the tournament, was ranked at 125/1 to win the whole thing, proving just how well he performed.

Of course, his victory didn't go unnoticed, and plenty of the darts universe were quick to congratulate Cross for his achievement.
