Former light-welterweight World Champion Amir Khan claims that he'll be making a huge announcement within the next ten days, and that it's going to shock a lot of people.

Khan hasn't competed inside the boxing ring since May of 2016 when he moved up to 155 pounds at a catchweight to take on then-WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. He was knocked out cold in the sixth round of the fight.

Following that fight Khan underwent surgery to repair a lingering hand injury and is now eying a return to boxing action very soon.

After fighting in the United States for the past several years Khan now plans to have his next few fights in home country of the United Kingdom.

Khan recently spoke to media and teased a big announcement that will shock a lot of boxing fans, but wouldn't go into specifics of the announcement.

It could be anything from a shocking next opponent to an unexpected promotional venture (quotes via Boxing Scene):

"I haven't fought in the UK for seven years. It is time to come back home now so I am looking at fighting in March," Khan told Talk Sport.

"Then I plan to fight again in the UK around September time and then at the end of the year I want a big fight, wherever that is.

"There are some big, big announcements I will make within the next ten days before I go back to training camp in America. This is news everyone is going to be shocked hearing."

During an appearance on the reality show, "I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!" Khan said that appearing on the show helped him in his personal life as he was going through marital issues that have since been settled:

"I felt going in the jungle would get me away from a lot of stuff that has happened in my life in the last few years," Khan said.

"It was like a detox, being with new friends, being away from your home. If I was sat at home not doing anything, I would have got depressed, I would have got so bored, I wouldn't have known what to do with myself.

"Now knowing I don't have to go into a boxing ring or go into training camps having injections in my hand, I am going to be more confident.

"The straight right is my best shot so I can't wait to use it properly. It feels better than ever.

"All my career I have had this pain and now to have none is amazing."
