During Monday Night Raw this week, WWE fans witnessed Goldust cross over to the cruiserweight division and team up with Cedric Alexander against Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari. The match took place as Enzo Amore was out of action due to an illness and therefore couldn't compete.
Amore was set to defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Alexander this week, but he was hospitalized before Raw took place and unable to wrestle. The match was therefore changed to the tag team clash we got instead.
Many thought it was odd seeing Goldust in the cruiserweight match since he's not listed by WWE as a member of the division. Nevertheless, many fans just considered it a one-off due to Amore's absence. The team of Alexander and Goldust won via pinfall after Alexander's Lumbar Check on Gulak sealed the victory for him and The Bizarre One.
The following night on 205 Live, however, in the main event of the show, Goldust was once again tagged with Alexander in a match against Gulak and Daivari. Just like he did on Raw, Alexander scored the win for his team with a Lumbar Check to Gulak.
Goldust and Alexander had a funny exchange backstage before this match took place where he reminded The Bizzare One of the 205-pound weight limit for cruiserweights, one which he doesn't meet as WWE bills him as weighing 232lbs, 17lbs over the weight limit.
However, one Reddit user has found a genius way of making sure Goldust can still compete in the cruiserweight division without actually having to lose any weight, and hopefully, this is something which WWE incorporates into their booking of The Bizzare One in the future on 205 Live.
Reddit user SaintRidley states that Gold is measured in troy pounds. How this is different to regular pounds is that there are 12 troy ounces to every troy pound, rather than the usual 16 ounces per pound found in the avoirdupois system.
With this logic, and knowing that Goldust is billed at 232 pounds in the avoirdupois system, in troy pounds, he is only a bit over 190 lbs, meaning he would qualify for the cruiserweight division.
This is an incredible way for WWE to book themselves around the question of Goldust being in the cruiserweight division in the future. Hopefully, they use it, as The Bizzare One could be very entertaining on 205 Live and provide a bit more life into the show.
