Chris Jericho had his first match outside of the WWE in 19 years on Wednesday night in Japan as he battled fellow Winnipeg, Canada native Kenny Omega at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12.

Y2J captured the internet's imagination when he started a Twitter feud with Bullet Club member and internet darling Kenny Omega late last year and fans were shocked when a match was made between the two for Wrestle Kingdom 12.

The fact that Jericho has a match outside of the WWE is one thing, but speculation has since grown that this will lead to Omega's debut in the WWE whether it be at the Royal Rumble or later.

After all, why would Vince McMahon acquiesce otherwise? Jericho has already admitted he ran it past him.

Omega has exploded as one of the best in-ring performers in the world in recent years and many feel that he is one of the biggest stars left to have never wrestled in the WWE.

At Wrestle Kingdom 12, the pair of Canadians put on a real show in a no disqualification match with Omega's IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship on the line.

The match was filled with plenty of jaw-dropping spots and you can catch the best of them below:

However, there was one thing that Jericho did that made Twitter truly blow up.

The old Chris Jericho - the cruiserweight version that roamed in WCW - used a finishing move called the 'liontamer', however, when he got to the WWE, the 47-year-old revealed that the superstars were too big to perform the move on.

Well, he cracked it out again for the Omega clash and fans went wild for it, as you can see below:

If Jericho wasn't already considered one of the greatest to ever lace his boots - which he surely is - he definitely is now.

WWE fans would love to see Omega in a WWE ring, but the chances of Jericho bringing him in are slim to none since he is booked to tour when WrestleMania 34 takes place in New Orleans this year.

However, a special appearance in the Royal Rumble isn't out of the question.
