Football hasn't been particularly easy for Andy Carroll in the last year or so.

Before his match-winning brace against West Brom, the West Ham United striker was on his biggest goal drought in nine years, going 14 consecutive games without finding the back of the net.

No one will ever question his game-changing qualities due to his immense strength in the air but in recent times, his robust style has been more of a hindrance to the Hammers.

But, against the Baggies, he was back near his best, terrorising a physical defence and scoring two very good goals.

If he can find some consistent form, the former Newcastle and Liverpool man is certainly a force, one that could potentially make it into the England squad as a 'Plan B'.

And, it turns out Carroll could be involved in one of the most amazing January transfer deals in recent memory.

Amazingly, Chelsea have entered into negotiations with the giant striker, with Antonio Conte desperate to find some cover for the misfiring Alvaro Morata.

According to the Daily Mail, initial talks have have begun with Carroll's entourage.

Now, if the deal were to be completed, it is highly unlikely that many Chelsea fans would be thrilled about the idea of having the Hammers man leading the line.

The main criticism of Morata in recent games has been his lack of ability to finish with his feet, something that Carroll also struggles with.

Also, Conte does still have Michy Batshuayi on his books, a player that should certainly be given another chance to prove himself, particularly if Carroll is the option to replace him.

The whole ordeal makes it even more unbelievable that Conte opted to ditch Costa in the summer, a player of genuine world-class ability.

The Italian has criticised the board for their lack of investment since they won the Premier League, but if Carroll is the sort of player he wants, perhaps his methods should be called into question.
