The NBA has revealed the leaders of the All-Star balloting after the first 12 days of the fan vote and it has sprung a few surprises.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is the leading vote-getter among all players with 863,416 and finds himself ahead of Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James by almost 7,500 votes.

This shows the growing popularity of the 'Greek Freak' and how he is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting players to watch on the court.

You can vote for your favourite players as NBA All-Stars every day HERE. Voting closes on January 15th.

His performances this season have seen him enter the MVP conversation as he's averaging an incredible 29.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.

He has led the Bucks to a 20-16 record as they sit fifth in the Eastern Conference.

James is second in voting with 856,080 and his former Cavs teammate Kyrie Irving is currently in third place with 802,834 votes and leads all guards in the league.

Golden State Warriors duo Kevin Durant (767,402) and Stephen Curry (735,115) are fourth and fifth on the list, respectively, and have so far received the highest vote totals among Western Conference players.

Under a new format for the All-Star game, the player who receives the most votes in the east and west will each serve as a captain and will choose teams from the pool of players voted in as starters and reserves.

The starters will be determined by the voting system which, like last season, sees the fans get 50 percent and players and media share 25 percent each.

The players will be sorted by their conference and position (guards and frontcourt players), with the two top guards and three top frontcourt players named as starters.

The reserves will then be selected by NBA head coaches and the two captains will then draft a team based on the pool of players available.

At present, Antetokounmpo, LeBron and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid lead the voting in the frontcourt in the east. New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis is just behind in fourth.

Irving and Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan are the leading guards in their conference with the Indiana Pacers' Victor Oladipo in third.

In the west, Durant and New Orleans Pelicans pair Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are the top three in the frontcourt.

Curry and MVP favorite James Harden are the top two guards with Russell Westbrook in third. Los Angeles Lakers rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma are also among the top 10 in their positions in the west.

The starters and captains for the showpiece event will be revealed on January 18, and the reserves will be announced on January 23. The full teams will be declared on January 25.

The next round of fan voting will be announced January 11 when things will start to get more interesting.

This year's All-Star game will take place in Los Angeles on February 18.
