Reportedly set to undergo a medical on Friday, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley looks close to completing a £15m move to Chelsea. The 24-year-old England international - who has missed the first half of the season through injury - almost joined Chelsea in the summer transfer window but rejected a Deadline Day move.Barkley is out of contract in the summer and made it clear that he has no intention of extending his stay at Goodison Park."I think that we are resigned and the club was resigned before I got here that we're going to lose Ross and I can't see that changing," said manager Sam Allardyce on Thursday."I expect there would be some interest some time in this window if there's going to be any interest from one of the big boys."Barkley joined Everton as an 11-year-old in 2005 and has made 150 Premier League appearances for the Merseyside club.Just £15m for an unquestionably talented young English international represents excellent value for money in the current market - but plenty of Chelsea fans on social media have raised their concerns.

Two real concerns

Although he would definitely strengthen Antonio Conte's squad, some Chelsea fans are rather apprehensive of the imminent £15m arrival.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is currently prospering on his season-long loan at Crystal Palace and fans desperately want him to see him in the Chelsea squad next season.

Barkley's arrival could prove to be a hinderance to Loftus-Cheek's development in west London.

Chelsea fans have also noted Barkley's lack of consistency - something that cannot be accepted at the highest level.

They are very valid concerns.

Loftus-Cheek, 21, has showed at Crystal Palace that he has all the attributes to be a world class central midfielder one day.

However, with Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko already in their ranks, the arrival of Barkley will make it that bit more difficult for Loftus-Cheek to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Barkley is reportedly back to full fitness following his hamstring surgery - and could make his debut as a Chelsea player later this month.
