As Liverpool's players prepare to say goodbye to Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona's players will be excited by the business their club is close to completing.

No bid has yet been submitted, but Liverpool have made their demands and Barca are reportedly prepared to meet them.

According to various sources, such as the Mirror, the Blaugrana are readying a £140 million bid for Coutinho that involves an initial payment of £105 million.

Liverpool want £120 million up front, but given how desperate Barcelona and Coutinho are to get the deal done, it's likely they'll match it.

Furthermore, Barca have scrapped the add-ons they proposed last summer, including Coutinho winning the Ballon d'Or, and replaced them with something more reasonable.

Additional payments to Liverpool will now only depend on how many appearances Coutinho makes and how many trophies he wins at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are increasingly confident of striking a deal and now Marca have made a rather big claim that suggests it could be done within the next few days.

Marca state that if all goes to plan over the next 48 hours, Barcelona are planning on presenting Coutinho at the Camp Nou as early as Monday (January 8):

"Sources close to the deal suggest that a presentation at Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho could happen as early as next Monday."

It's a sign of overconfidence from Barcelona which could come back to bite them.

Coutinho leaving in January isn't exactly what Kopites hoped would happen in January - even Jamie Carragher said a move should wait until the summer.

Indeed, in a recent poll conducted by the Liverpool Echo, 58.1% of the 4,000 Liverpool fans who voted said they wanted Coutinho to stay but only until the end of the season.

Not that Barcelona's players will care, especially Paulinho, who has been in contact with Coutinho and recently told the 25-year-old he wouldn't regret moving to Spain.

"I make jokes that people are already looking for a house for him," Paulinho told Mundo Deportivo. "I try to give him the basic information, the most important for him and his family.

"You have to think about the decision you are going to make. What I think is that if you have the opportunity to come, you will not regret it."
