It's the boxing match-up the whole country wants to see, but will it ever happen? Anthony Joshua is not convinced the fight will happen, at least in the coming year.

The IBF and WBA champion remains open about getting into the ring for an all British heavyweight clash with Tyson Fury, but isn't sure about the former champion's comeback and current state of mind, following his well-publicised battle with drugs and depression.

Fury himself has been talking up the chances of the bout taking place this year this week on Twitter, even challenging Joshua to 'a winner takes all' clash but AJ is dubious it will happen.

"That's more of a fantasy at the moment. It's just that he's not fit and he hasn't had a fight," Joshua told the Daily Mail.

"If Fury was still fit, we would probably be talking about Fury for March. It's not me... I'm definitely consistent and ready to fight anyone."

Instead, AJ has the more realisitic targets of fights with both Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder in his sights, which may give him the chance to unify all four heavyweight belts and follow in the footsteps of other heavyweight greats who've held all four belts, such as Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.

The Parker bout has been all but agreed and is expected to be announced soon, while a potential blockbuster with the WBC champ Wilder could take place towards the end of the summer, possibly Wembley Stadium or alternatively in the States.

Joshua has also been making preparations for when his ring career is over by trying his hand at fight promotion.

The world champion is helping promote the all-British clash between Isaac Chamberlain and Lawrence Okolie on February 3 alongside his current promoter Eddie Hearn.

AJ was keen to play down any early retirement rumours though.

He added: "I've been pro now for going on four years so it's way too early to be thinking about that but to have the opportunity and to be exposed to these types of things, I take them with both hands because it's something I could never have imagined."

2018 is certainly a big year in the making for AJ.
