In the past couple of months, Finn Balor has gone from being speculated to be Brock Lesnar's next challenger for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble, to being pushed out of the title picture entirely. However, all may not be lost for The Demon King.

Balor hasn't yet received his Universal title match after he vacated the championship when he picked up a shoulder injury at SummerSlam 2016 during his match for the title against Seth Rollins, which he won.

The reason why the match hasn't been booked yet is that WWE is protecting The Demon King from a huge loss, which would happen at the Royal Rumble if he was to face Lesnar since WWE already has plans to have The Beast put the title on the line against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34.

Therefore, WWE has booked Lesnar to face Kane and Braun Strowman at the Rumble, where he will retain the title to later face Reigns at WrestleMania, while Balor will instead be an entrant in the Royal Rumble match itself.

According to reports by Rajah, this could be the start of something huge for Balor, as WWE officials are actually discussing him as a possible winner of the Royal Rumble match. Other possible winners include Baron Corbin and Batista.

If Balor wins, one possible scenario that could play out could be that he gets his title shot at Elimination Chamber.

Another idea, which is the more exciting one, is that he could switch brands and face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34, with the company playing up the fact that he beat Styles last year at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.

Their match at TLC last year was a huge success on such short notice, so it could be even better with a proper build to the match, especially if you tie in the storyline of The Club since Balor teamed up with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on Raw recently, who have teamed up with Styles in the past.

Allowing The Demon King to compete for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34 as well will finally give him the push which he deserves on the grandest stage of all, as well as put Balor back where he belongs, in the main title picture.
