It’s been just over a week since Diego Costa officially became an Atletico Madrid player again following his move from Chelsea. The hot-headed striker has been training with his teammates for several months now but was only eligible to play for Atleti from January 1 onwards.Since then, he’s made three appearances for Diego Simeone’s side, and has made headlines during every match. The man is pure box office.Last week, against Lleida Esportiu in the Copa del Rey, he came on as a second-half substitute and scored five minutes later. He then picked up an injury - but forced himself to continue the match - before getting into an altercation with an opponent. Then in his next match, against Getafe on Saturday, Costa scored his first La Liga goal since returning to Atleti before being sent off moments later for jumping into the crowd and celebrating.

Costa produces a superb assist for Atletico

Tonight, he made his third appearance, against Lleida Esportiu once again.

He didn’t score or get sent off, surprisingly, but he did show Chelsea what they’re missing by producing a quite brilliant assist for Yannick Carrasco to open the scoring in the second half.

Costa won possession in his own half by outmuscling Mouhamadou Moustapha Gning before sprinting as fast as he could towards goal as Atleti launched a swift counter-attack.

He made an intelligent run across Carrasco, who fed the striker.

Costa then waited for Carrasco and laid off a perfect short pass to the Belgian winger, who broke the deadlock.

No wonder Chelsea fans are missing him

You can see why Chelsea fans, who are frustrated with Alvaro Morata following a series of profligate displays, are pining for the Brazil-born Spain international.

What a beast.
