Carlisle striker Richard Offiong has joined Swedish side Ostersunds FK on loan until the middle of July.

Offiong, who will head off on his 15-week stint at the end of the week, will team up with former Newcastle and Blackburn midfielder Lee Makel, now player-coach at Ostersunds.

"We are in a situation where we want Richard to be playing regularly so that he can build up his confidence and work towards becoming the player that we know he can be," Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said.

"This is an ideal opportunity for him to play at a very good level and to get some valuable competitive pitch time under his belt ahead of next season."

Abbott added: "Hopefully he will come back refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to go again."

Offiong, 26, joined the Cumbrians from Hamilton last summer, but has struggled to hold down a regular place in Abbott's first-team starting line-up.
