It seems Antonio Conte is not interested in being anyone's friend in the Premier League.

Chelsea face Arsenal on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final encounter, just one week after a pulsating 2-2 draw between the two sides in the Premier League.

Conte is already involved in a very personal spat with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and that war or words shows no sign of letting up.

But it appears as though the Italian tactician has got some time to stick it to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, too.

Eden Hazard controversially won a penalty against Arsenal last time out and the Belgian went down in the box after precious little contact from Hector Bellerin.

After their embarrassing exit to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last weekend, Arsenal have conceded penalties in each of their last three games, but two of them could be viewed as extremely harsh.

Still, Conte accused Wenger of being an “old coach” whose “way was to blame” referees after the 68-year-old was left angry at the "farcical" penalty award for Bellerin's foul on Hazard.

“Am I an old coach? Yes,” said Wenger in response. “He's not a young coach, he's an old coach as well."

In actual fact, Conte is 20 years Wenger's junior and the former Juventus man has been managing for 12 years total as opposed to Wenger's 34.

Wenger continued: "Is it my way to question Hazard? No, I didn't blame Hazard. I don’t understand. Why did I question Hazard? I didn’t. I questioned the decision of the referee. OK. Then, we are objective.

“You look at the picture. You see how Hazard goes down and you see how quickly he takes the penalty when he gets the penalty. If he was so injured, why did he take the penalty?

“He made more of it, and shouts. I can understand that. I do not blame Hazard. He acted in a very professional way, basically, to get the penalty for his team. He did well.”

While Conte remains combative, so does Wenger's keen eye for refereeing errors. However, even the most bias football fan could admit the Hazard penalty was debatable.
