Two goals in nine Premier League appearances since August just about sums up how frustrating this season has been for Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge.

Out of form and out of favour under Jurgen Klopp, the Englishman's career has come to a complete standstill and his future is very much uncertain.

What's most worrying for Sturridge is the lack of interest currently being shown in him in the January transfer window.

Recent reports have suggested he wants to leave Liverpool to boost his World Cup hopes with England, but for that to happen, he actually needs to find a club that wants him.

Speaking in November, Klopp said he could understand if Sturridge was unhappy but his future wouldn't be discussed until January.

"The situation with the player is completely ok," said Klopp. "I can imagine actually that a player with these qualities is not happy he is not starting all the time.

"I really can imagine that, but that's all. At the moment we need all our players.

"So we have November, and even if he feels a little different, there is a month and a half to go until any window opens and until then I don't think a second about things like this.

"We have so many games to go until then and we need all of them, and that's what we show them."

Well, it's now January and since November 1, Klopp has afforded Sturridge a grand total of 100 minutes across three games, which isn't good enough for a player of his quality.

There is hope, though. According to Sky Sports and Sky Italy, one club is interested in signing Sturridge and it would be very surprising to see it happen: Inter Milan.

Inter want Sturridge on loan until the end of the season and Tuttosport claim the 28-year-old is keen to make a move happen, too.

But just take a second to picture Sturridge playing in Serie A wearing the black and blue stripes of Inter Milan... doesn't look right, does it?

Another reason behind the the Nerazzurri's interest in Sturridge is they don't have a decent alternative to Mauro Icardi, who has been on fire this season but needs back up.

Sturridge probably never saw himself playing for a club like Inter, but with his career hanging in the balance, it's a risk worth taking.
