Manchester United are second in the Premier League, in the Champions League knockout stages and progressing in the FA Cup, and yet, many feel like Jose Mourinho's troops are under-achieving.

The 14-point gap behind leaders and local rivals Manchester City is probably the driving force behind the criticism, but recent draws with Leicester, Burnley and Southampton also fall below expectations.

Boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret that he thinks his side needs another winger in it's ranks and a top-class one at that.

Last summer, Mourinho vehemently chased Inter Milan wideman Ivan Perisic but ended up missing out on the Croatian after the Italian giants refused to budge on his price.

They are now being linked with a £20 million move for out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura, a man who has only made six appearances this season.

There is no denying the Brazilian has talent, but many United fans have suggested that Ajax wonderkid Justin Kluivert would be a better fit for the Red Devils.

At 18-years-old, the Dutchman and son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert might not fit the immediate needs of United, but he is certainly an exciting talent.

After United won the Europa League final against Ajax in 2017, Mourinho was spotted talking to the teenager after the final whistle and was believed to be courting him.

Finally, Kluivert has now revealed what the Special One said to him.

However, Kluivert Jr told AD : “He just liked to see me. Mourinho knows me from the time that I was a little boy and my father played at Barcelona when Mourinho worked there as an assistant trainer.”

The story makes sense, but lip readers at the time had a difference of opinion...

Still, Kluivert is focused on making the most of his talent and he won't shirk in the face of his father's legacy.

"I want to keep the Kluivert name high," he told Algemeen Dagblad (via Goal). "Everyone knows the name. That must motivate you.

"I'm going to the top like my father. Maybe it will be a bit less, maybe better. I don't find it irritating, though. He just makes me proud. It's nice to have a father like that. He has been on the ride.”
