When the signing of Philippe Coutinho was made, football fans entered into debate over how Barcelona would use the Brazilian superstar.

The £145m man had been used in two positions this season with Liverpool; as a central-midfielder and as a left winger.

In both roles, Coutinho has excelled, demonstrating his ability to pass, dribble and score some absolute worldies.

But, Barca already possess talent in both those areas, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Paulinho all in exemplary form this season.

Coutinho has been touted as many as the natural successor to Iniesta, with some suggesting that his arrival will mean Barca can keep the Spaniard fit for the Champions League knockout stages.

The legendary midfielder is still at the peak of his powers and would surely not appreciate someone coming in to steal some of his thunder.

Well, after Barca's 5-0 win over Celta Vigo on Thursday, Iniesta spoke to the media and answered the question about how Coutinho's arrival will impact him.

His seven-word answer was simply perfect.

INIESTA'S BRILLIANT RESPONSE

"Whoever comes, nobody will force me into retirement," he said.

That's a sign of confidence. But, Iniesta was still very happy with the arrival of Coutinho, saying: "He will find a very good environment to grow, and the price is not a problem, the important thing is that he performs as he can."

Spanish football expert says Barca are looking at Coutinho to be the man to sit atop Iniesta's throne once his legs have completely given way.

"Iniesta is getting old. It has been suggested that this is his last season at Barcelona with huge offers on the table from China," said Balague.

"Barcelona need that type of quality in midfield. Coutinho is not Iniesta yet, in fact they seem him as more of a forward at the moment, but he can develop the skills needed.

"At the beginning Coutinho won't have many defensive obligations without the ball but he'll have to learn those because they see him, in the medium term, as a midfielder.

"They think that for him to do so, he will have to understand the positional game of Barcelona, to do a bigger shift without the ball.

"At the moment what they need straight away is a replacement for Neymar, which they did not get [in the summer]."
