We now know who will replace former Universal Title contender Samoa Joe on upcoming WWE events.

If you recall, Joe has suffered an injury and as a result, WWE has had to make some changes to their plans.

He suffered an injury on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Memphis, TN at the FedExForum on the USA Network.

WWE has revealed that Joe suffered an injury to his right foot. WWE Doctor Chris Amann noted that during his match with Rhyno on Raw, Joe felt a "pop" at the bottom of his right foot.

“We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot, "said Amann. "We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”

Although a timetable for his return to in-ring action has yet to be revealed, he is slated to miss several upcoming WWE events.

Former Intercontinental Champion The Miz, who just returned to WWE television this week on Raw, is scheduled to replace him at upcoming events.

One notable event that Miz is replacing Joe is at the March 16th event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Originally, the arena advertised Joe vs. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title.

For many years, wrestling fans wanted to see Joe sign with WWE following his success in Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor. Finally, he signed with the company in 2015.

However, instead of being placed on the main roster right away like many fans thought would happen, WWE decided to place him in NXT.

He was in NXT for nearly two years. He was later called up to the main roster. On the January 30, 2017, episode of Raw, Joe made his official main roster debut by attacking Seth Rollins from behind and aligning himself with Triple H.

If you recall, Joe suffered a knee injury in late August, which has forced him from competing. The former NXT Champion has since missed several events and was been pulled from WWE television.
