Chris Jericho set for NJPW dream match against Kazuchika Okada

Part of the reason why wrestling fans love Chris Jericho so much is because of his ability to reinvent himself and breathe fresh air into programming.

We witnessed that in his previous WWE run where he became the most entertaining part of Monday Night RAW alongside Kevin Owens ahead of their break-up in the Festival of Friendship.

Since exiting the WWE last year to embark on a tour with his band Fozzy, Jericho shocked wrestling fans by igniting a war of words with NJPW star Kenny Omega.

Clearly, something bigger was building after Jericho surprised the wrestling world by revealing that he'll battle The Cleaner at Wrestle Kingdom 12, a match which he lost yet many are calling the best of Jericho's career.

Although it seemed like a one-and-done deal now that his feud with Omega is over, it looks as if Jericho is sticking around in Japan for a while after he attacked Tetsuya Naito at the NJPW New Year's Dash event.

It's now thought that Naito and Jericho will face off at NJPW's Strong Style Evolved event in California in March. However, if a report from Sports Illustrated is anything to go by, then Jericho could be in for an even bigger match in NJPW - something you could say is a dream match in itself.

According to the report, the big match being discussed for Jericho is to battle IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in a match that could happen down the line.

Okada has already gotten the better of Omega on numerous occasions with the championship on the line, and you have to assume that Jericho will want his Japan run to be one to remember.

Having faced Omega already and the possibility of facing Naito soon - it only makes sense to conclude the Japan switch by facing the best the company has to offer, even if he does end up losing the match.

The report has added that Jericho has masterfully picked both of his opponents in Omega and Naito as they're both workhorses, and Okada also falls into that bracket so the match - should it happen - is one Jericho probably knows is capable of stealing the show.
