One WWE NXT superstar is currently battling through an injury.

That NXT star is Mae Young Classic Winner Kairi Sane. Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer noted in a response to a fan on Twitter that Sane is "banged up” and that’s the reason she has not wrestled since NXT Takeover: War Games, which took place back on Saturday, November 18.

If you recall, Sane competed in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, and Ember Moon at the event for the vacant NXT Women's Championship. As seen in the match, Moon won the title after pinning Cross.

By looking back at her match history, she last appeared on the weekly NXT television show on the sports entertainment company’s streaming service, WWE Network, back on December 27th.

As seen on that episode, she did an angle after Moon retained her title against Sonya Deville, Sane then walked out on stage and then motioned that she has her title in her sights. This led to Shayna Baszler walking out and beating her down.

This led to Baszler locking in a sleeper hold to render Sane unconscious before staring Moon down.
Sane spoke with Rolling Stone Magazine back in September to talk about her future with the sports entertainment company and winning the Mae Young Classic.

“I was so focused on winning, and I have still been surprised that I did it, and now I know I have to realize, "The end is the beginning of something new." So I'm telling myself, "What's my next goal?" And I know what that is, so I'm ready.”

“Yes, it affected me greatly. There were 32 athletes competing from worldwide, and I was doing as many as three [matches] a day, and I have to say I was proud of myself that I could participate. It was such a big deal.”

“It's very important to me that I give my vitality and courage to my audiences. I was the shortest [Mae Young competitor], as you know, but I won like this and just want to give the impression to everybody that you don't have to give up on your dream.

I want all women to know that women are strong, and the women's revolution in WWE is very important to me.”
