Mauro Ranallo got lucky with a recent incident that happened to him while he was eating dinner yesterday (Sun. January 14, 2018).

Ranallo took to Twitter to reveal that he was eating dinner, salmon to be exact, when he began to choke on his food. Apparently former mixed martial artist Frank Shamrock was nearby and used the Heimlich maneuver to save the commentator's life.

After the event Ranallo called it the scariest moment of his life and urged his followers to use the Heimlich maneuver because Shamrock proved to him that it truly does work and it can save somebody's life.

Ranallo said that the only reason he is Tweeting about it is to let fans know it works and to help spread the word. You can check out what Ranallo had to say about the incident here below:

Ranallo is a highly decorated mixed martial arts (MMA) commentator who has called some big fights throughout his years. He has worked for promotions such as PRIDE, Elite XC, Strikeforce, Bellator, and so many more.

He also had experience calling professional wrestling with promotions such as Stampede Wrestling and Top Ranked Wrestling. In 2015 he got his big break by signing with WWE to do commentary on Tuesday nights for SmackDown Live.

In March of 2017 Ranallo began to miss SmackDown Live tapings after continuing his struggle with depression. There was also rumors that fellow SmackDown Live commentator JBL's bullying played a factor in his absence.

After it was reported Ranallo and WWE mutually parted ways, Ranallo signed on to be the commentator for WWE's NXT on Wednesdays. He is recognized as one of the best professional wrestling commentators in the world today.

It's impossible to imagine the WWE and MMA world without the commentary of Ranallo, so thank God Shamrock was where he was to help Ranallo in his time of need.

What are your thoughts on Shamrock saving Ranallo's life with the Heimlich maneuver as he choked on food? Where would WWE be without, arguably, the best commentator that they have on their roster today? And do you think that it's possible that we could see Ranallo return to calling WWE action on either Monday Night RAW or SmackDown Live down the road? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
