Last weekend’s divisional round was filled with incredible action, excitement and heartbreak.
In the game of the week, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the New Orleans Saints with the final play, winning 29-24 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
That will, of course, live long in the memory, but there was plenty of other great action across the league.
In the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers took on the Jacksonville Jaguars for a place in the conference championship against the New England Patriots, who beat the Tennessee Titans a day before.
The Steelers, with home advantage, went into the game as favourites. They finished the regular season with a record of 13-4, making them second seeds in the AFC.
But the visiting Jaguars came to cause an upset.
They’ve gained a reputation for being one of the worst franchises in the NFL in recent seasons, so reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2007 was an achievement in itself.
Getting to the postseason was credited mostly to the Jaguars defense, who’ve earned the nickname “Sacksonville” due to their impressive showings.
In fact, they led the league in fewest yards allowed per game, fewest yards allowed per play and fewest yards allowed per pass in 2017.
They also had the second-best in sack rate, points per game and turnovers in the NFL.
So it was suggested that if they were to upset the Steelers, defense would be key. But Sunday’s game proved Jacksonville are more than just an impressive defensive team.
In a game that offense dominated, the Jaguars beat Pittsburgh 45-42 at Heinz Field, advancing to the conference championship.
Rookie running back Leonard Fournette was very impressive, rushing for three touchdowns and 109 yards from 25 carries.
Quarterback Blake Bortles, who’s often been on the receiving end of jokes from fans and players alike, also threw 214 yards and a touchdown to help the Jaguars to victory.
So it's fair to say that the Patriots shouldn't underestimate Jacksonville. Next Sunday though, once again, many believe the Jaguars will go into the game as underdogs.
One man though, who believes Jacksonville have what it takes to beat New England, is the team's cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
He's become known as one of the best trash talkers in the NFL and following Sunday's win at Pittsburgh, he cut a WWE-style promo, guaranteeing that the Jaguars are going to make the Super Bowl.
And he doesn't just think they're going to stop there, saying: "We're going to the Super Bowl and we're gonna win that bitch!"
Check out a video of the rousing moment below.
Of course, Ramsey doesn't just have the talk, he backs himself up on the field too.
The cornerback was named as an All-Pro this season and has helped lead one of the best defenses in the NFL, meaning Tom Brady and co can't go into Sunday's game expecting a walkover.News Now - Sport News
