Hartlepool climbed out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.
The visitors had lost 11 of their previous 12 away games prior to this fixture but took control with three unanswered first-half goals.
Orient almost took the lead in the fifth minute when Tamika Mkandawire saw two shots blocked on the line.
But Pools dominated thereafter and took the lead in the 21st minute when Gary Liddle nodded home Ritchie Humphreys' corner.
Roy O'Donovan added a second six minutes later following a fine run from Andy Monkhouse and Liddle made it 3-0 in the 39th minute with another header from Joe Gamble's corner.
The Os did manage a consolation goal with six minutes remaining as Adrian Patulea's strike beat Scott Flinders with the aid of a deflection.
