There’s one fighter who wants to see current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor continue his boxing career.

That fighter is former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten, who expressed his views during a recent interview with TMZ.

The boxing match between the boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and the UFC lightweight champion is in the books as it took place in August in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired live on PPV (pay-per-view) for the low price of $100 for HD and $90 for SD.

The fight did live up to the hype in terms of excitement.

As seen in the fight, the UFC champion did show some pretty good things in ring considering that it’s his first outing as a professional.

Although McGregor looked good in the first three rounds, he started getting tired as the fight went on. Even McGregor cited patches of fatigue that he needs to overcome for him to become more effective in a lengthy statement that he posted on his official Instagram account.

He made it clear and finally admitted that going 12 rounds was always a challenge for him during training camp.

Make no mistake about it, the conditioning in boxing is certainly different from conditioning in mixed martial arts, as there are very different muscle groups and movements that are used. McGregor showed up for the fight in great shape, but it wasn’t enough for him.

With McGregor losing the bout, several former foes and several boxing personalities have taken several shots at the UFC champion.

"If he's a smart guy he should keep on boxing - that's what I would do," Rutten told TMZ Sports (transcript courtesy of Express.co).I think Paulie Malignaggi should be a great fight. I think a fight against ‘Pacman’ (Manny Pacquiao) is a hard fight.”

This was truly a huge event. Two bouts aired on FOX for two hours leading to the pay-per-view broadcast, airing 7-9 p.m. Eastern time and 4-6 p.m. Pacific time, averaged 2,438,000 viewers.

This is much bigger than the usual boxing event on the network as boxing has averaged 1,427,000 viewers so far this year. It was FOX's most watched boxing show in 20 months. The PPV has reportedly brought in 4.6 million PPV buys domestic.

What are you thoughts this potential idea. Is a good thing for McGregor to consider a boxing comeback or should he stay in lane and keep fighting in the UFC? Let us hear your voice in the comments below.
