Football News

It is no secret in the footballing world that Alexis Sanchez's days at Arsenal are seriously numbered.

The Chilean star was close to a move to Manchester City back in the summer but now, Pep Guardiola's side have pulled out of the pursuit, allowing Manchester United to lead the chase.

The whole situation would be a win-win for Jose Mourinho; mugging off Arsenal and depriving their title rivals of adding to their impressive squad, while also making a big statement across Europe.

It seems Sanchez has always been keen on a move to Old Trafford as well, with an unnamed Chile teammate revealing in 2010 that it was always his 'dream'.

"All Alexis wants is to play for Manchester United," he revealed, per Goal, who did not want to be named. "He'd give anything for that."

Well, his wish is so close to coming true, with the Telegraph reporting that Sanchez has agreed a truly mouthwatering contract with the Red Devils.

It will be a four-and-a-half year contract, worth £14m after tax. But that's not all.

The report states: "Sanchez’s lucrative contract means United’s deal to sign the forward is worth over £60m once his £30m value, agents’ fee, worth more than £10m, and signing on fee are taken into consideration.

"Manchester City were not prepared to pay so much for a player who only has six months remaining on his contract."

Fair play to City for not coughing up the dough.

The deal will make Sanchez the highest paid player in English football, eclipsing the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard and soon-to-be teammate Paul Pogba.

The fact he will be earning quite a bit more than Pogba could caused some disruption in the dressing room, something which Mourinho will certainly have to keep an eye on after he unveils his new superstar.
