Football News

Former Shrewsbury skipper Ben Davies marked his first return for Notts County with his 13th goal of the season to make it six defeats in a row for his former club.

Shrewsbury started brightly, and County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel did well to deal with a blistering drive from Jake Simpson.

But after that County dominated, especially in the opening half when David Button saved at full stretch from Mike Edwards and Neal Bishop.

Lee Hughes missed a good opening before a four-man move ended with Davies's low angled drive.

The second half disappointed, but Jamie Cureton twice came close, but at the other end Davies fluffed his shot to make the 1-0 win more convincing.
