Leicester club captain Stephen Clemence has been forced to retire from professional football following a long injury nightmare.

The midfielder, who made 34 appearances for the club, joined in the summer of 2007 but has not featured for the Foxes since March 2008 due to a heel problem.

The 32-year-old started his career at Tottenham and went on to make over 200 appearances in the Premier League. He moved to Birmingham for £250,000 in January 2003 and Leicester paid £1million for him in July 2007.
