Before Chelsea's 3-0 victory against Brighton on Saturday, they appeared to be having a bit of a meltdown having scored just one goal in their four matches in 2018 - a Michy Batshuayi strike in their FA Cup third-round replay against Norwich. That's why it was probably no surprise to see Antonio Conte targeting a new striker in the January transfer window then - especially when you consider Alvaro Morata hasn’t scored since Boxing Day.But Chelsea fans aren’t particularly impressed with who they’ve been linked with.First, it was Andy Carroll. That was until scans revealed the true extent of his ankle injury meaning any proposed deal now looks extremely unlikely. But next on Chelsea’s wishlist was 36-year-old Peter Crouch.Suddenly, Chelsea supporters were wishing Carroll didn’t get injured. The fact is, you’d find it extremely difficult to find any Chelsea fan that actually wants to sign Crouch. However, there’s one man - and only one man probably - that thinks it’s a ’no-brainer.’

WHAT JERMAINE JENAS SAID ABOUT PETER CROUCH

That man is Jermaine Jenas.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, the Match of the Day pundit said: "People will be saying, 'Look, he's 36 years old... ' but it's looking like it will be a year-and-a-half deal... maybe a year, I don't know.

"It's a no-brainer, really, in terms of the money Chelsea will have to pay for him, what the wages will be and what he'll bring to the table... as a second option, by the way. Yeah, I can understand why that deal could get done."

Really?

Madness.

FOOTBALL FANS REACT

Unsurprisingly, football fans completely disagreed with Jenas’ comments. Just check out the reaction on Twitter:

Yeah, we think Jenas is very much in the minority here.

Considering Crouch has scored just four goals in 21 appearances this season, is he really a ‘no-brainer’ to sort out Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal?

We don’t think so.
