At long last, Matt Hardy finally won the legal battle against Anthem Sports and we’re slowly beginning to see the Woken gimmick - formerly Broken - appear on WWE television.

We’re seeing the mannerisms on TV, including the laugh and the change of accent but it’s only a matter of time before we witness something epic to officially introduce the Woken Universe to the WWE Universe.

There’s been speculation that the Hardy family could finally debut soon as WWE’s production crew were recently filming at the Hardy Compound.

Although Woken Matt is currently embroiled in a feud with Bray Wyatt, many are questioning what the Woken gimmick could have in store for WWE. Uproxx recently caught up with Matt where he spoke in detail about the current relationship he has with the Woken gimmick along with what the fans can expect from the exciting switch.

He said: “Really, the only detail I can into there is that, you know, we’re, you know, starting the Woken universe in the WWE and recently you’ve seen a sliver of [it]. And you, obviously, being in the know, you know a lot of the backstory about the Woken universe when it was known as the Broken universe before my CONDEESHUN became subdued at WrestleMania, and now it is going through an awakening and I am Woken.

“But this is what I can say: now that everything has been settled and everything has been put behind us, anything is possible in the WWE. And I’m sure you will see most things that you will come to expect in the WWE, and I think you will see even new character and personas that you haven’t met or interacted with it. So, I think it’s a very, very exciting time moving forward.”

It’s interesting to see Matt hint that new characters could be coming, especially since he mentioned we already know the backstory. The backstory consists of Brother Nero, Senor Benjamin and more. So, perhaps we could be in store for newer characters to freshen things up even more.

He was also asked about what might happen if The Eater of Worlds ended up being thrown into the Lake of Reincarnation and had a brilliant response.

He added: “That’s a very interesting question. I would first be concerned he’s gonna come back as a disgusting “Husky Harris.” That would be my first concern. The second concern, which isn’t much of a concern but would be my hope, is that between myself and the Seven Deities, if we could delete this demon that lives within him, this Sister Abigail. We could dump him in and he could return to the force that he used to be.

“Because many, many years ago, Bray Wyatt - the soul that is within him, that is suppressed - was once...was not a bad guy. But this Sister Abigail is the one that has really taken over his vessel and made him into something evil.

“So, I’m hoping we can get Bray Wyatt to where he needs to be, because he actually could, in the future, potentially be a wonderful soldier of the light. We just have to get rid of that notorious nefarious Sister Abigail.”
