Despite it all being storylined, at the time, nobody could really quite understand why WWE would fire Braun Strowman and then rehire him on the same night.

After annihilating both Kane and Brock Lesnar the week before, Monday Night RAW general manager Kurt Angle fired The Monster Among Men in the middle of the ring because of how destructive he was - only to fuel the fire inside of Strowman before he went on another rampage.

FIRED THEN REHIRED

Strowman attacked security backstage, destroyed Angle’s office, damaged an expensive production truck and even managed to get his hands on Michael Cole. Following that, Angle revealed that RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon had made the decision to rehire Strowman.

Obviously, he was never going to be fired and be taken out of the huge Universal Championship match against The Big Red Machine and The Beast Incarnate at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

However, speculation from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed just why the decision might have been made. The source is claiming that Stephanie made the decision to continue the quietly brewing angle between Strowman and Triple H.

As we saw at the Survivor Series event, Triple H had some major tension when facing off with Strowman when they were part of Team RAW. Eventually, The Cerebral Assassin turned on Angle and allowed Shane McMahon to pin Angle before turning on his real-life brother-in-law and helping Team Raw pick up the win.

After the match, Strowman attacked Triple H and warned him to never mess with him again.

WRESTLEMANIA ENCOUNTER

The speculated idea behind Strowman getting his job back is to eventually humiliate him on a bigger show. This would then build the tension even more between Strowman and Triple H which could lead to a potential match at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

Right now, it’s unclear just what the ‘Mania plans are as no other matches have been discussed. While some of the other bigger stars continue to get booked in feuds and matches, it makes it even more likely that Strowman could get his hands on Triple H at WrestleMania.
