Who needs Alexis Sanchez, eh?

The Chilean’s move to Manchester United is expected to be announced at any moment but if Arsenal’s first-half performance against Crystal Palace is anything to go by, he won’t be missed very much.

The Gunners raced into a 4-0 lead in the opening 22 minutes, completely blowing Palace away at the Emirates Stadium.

Nacho Monreal opened the scoring in the sixth minute, the left-back heading home at the back post.

Alex Iwobi doubled Arsenal’s lead four minutes later when he nearly tucked the ball home.

Laurent Koscielny joined in the fun in the 13th minute, the centre-back bundling the ball into the net from close range.

And Alexandre Lacazette ended his lengthy goal drought to make it 4-0 midway through the opening half.

Gary Lineker made a joke about Alexis Sanchez

A penny for Sanchez’s thoughts.

There are widespread reports that the Chilean’s move to Man United is complete but life without him has started rather well.

And football fans immediately flocked two Twitter to make the same joke about Sanchez.

That included Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, who wrote: “Arsenal are struggling to cope without Sanchez. It’s taken them 14 minutes to score 3.”

Ha. Funny one, Gary.

Everyone was making the same joke, to be honest...

Wenger would have loved it

It was the perfect response to Sanchez’s imminent departure and a sign that Arsene Wenger won’t allow the move to completely ruin Arsenal’s season.

And with Henrikh Mkhitaryan coming in, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to follow him, perhaps Arsenal supporters should be optimistic about the second half of the season.

Ozil is back

The presence of Mesut Ozil especially offers plenty of reasons to be confident that the Gunners could recover to finish in the top four of the Premier League, or even win the Europa League.

The German playmaker made his return to action following an injury this afternoon and he immediately showed Arsenal what they’ve been missing with a lovely assist for Lacazette.

Sanchez may be gone but just imagine what Ozil can do with Lacazette and Aubameyang as his teammates?

Can Arsenal win the Europa League if they sign Lacazette and Mkhitaryan? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
