Amid all the talk and speculation, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has named the striker that Chelsea should be trying to bring in this month.

Chelsea linked with target men

Chelsea have been linked with several big centre-forwards, from Fernando Llorente and Edin Dzeko to recently-injured Andy Carroll and even 36-year-old Peter Crouch.

When discussing Chelsea's transfer targets for BT Sport on Saturday night, Ferdinand understandably questioned Carroll's fitness record as well as Crouch's age.

Rio: The striker Chelsea should be looking at

The ex-Man United man thinks that, rather than sign another striker, Chelsea should be looking to recall Tammy Abraham from his loan spell at Swansea City instead.

"Chelsea have had Tammy Abraham in their ranks, who's a tall, rangy player," the 39-year-old began. "You'd put him on the side of being a 'target man'.

"So maybe he fits that bill. Why isn't he being brought back from loan to be part of that? I think that's the frustrating thing for Chelsea fans.

"They see talent coming out of the youth system, being loaned out and then going out and buying other players. Is Batshuayi better than (Dominic) Solanke, which they had? Abraham?"

Rio went into more depth - check out his full opinion in the video below:

Does Rio have a point?

So far this campaign, Abraham has scored four league goals for Swansea (five in all competitions), who currently sit bottom of the Premier League table.

Rio isn't sure why Chelsea aren't attempting to bring back the 20-year-old Swansea loanee, but his comments are sure to split Blues supporters down the middle.

On the one hand, an academy graduate like Andreas Christensen has shone this season, but on the other, some have questioned Abraham's quality at this stage of his career.
