Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was caught on camera talking to a mascot about Leo Messi ahead of Sunday's 7-1 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Ronaldo and Leo Messi have dominated world football since they emerged as teenage wonderkids over ten years ago.

They have each won five Ballon d'Or's and will unquestionably be the two star players at the 2018 World Cup later this year.

The 32-year-old Portuguese forward has endured a difficult start to the 2017/18 campaign - but scored a brace in a 7-1 demolition job of Deportivo at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It's always great and a positive feeling to win, netting seven goals at home," said Zinedine Zidane after the game.

"It's not every day you get seven goals at the Bernabéu so we're thrilled with that today. We were hungry to get a result like this and now we want a repeat performance on Wednesday and next Saturday."

Real Madrid lie fourth in the table whilst Ronaldo took his tally for the season to six.

Ronaldo makes fun of Messi to a young mascot

Standing in the tunnel before Sunday's La Liga fixture, a young mascot attempted to strike up a conversation with the former Manchester United winger.

"For me, you are the best player in the world and Messi..." said the youngster before being cut off by Real Madrid's all-time top scorer.

"Is bad", Ronaldo cheekily finished the mascot's sentence with a smirk.

His Real Madrid teammates found it rather amusing. Watch the video below.

Messi might have something to say about that.

After winning his most recent Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo claimed he is the greatest player in the history of football.

"I'm the best player in history, in the good moments and the bad ones," he told France Football.

"I respect everyone's preferences, but I've never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that. No footballer can do the things I can. There's no player more complete than me.

"I play well with both feet, I'm quick, powerful, good with the head, I score goals, I make assists. There are guys who prefer Neymar or (Lionel) Messi. But I tell you: there's no-one more complete than me."
