For months, it’s looked as though it would only be a matter of time before Alexis Sanchez signed for Manchester City. The Chilean came within inches of reuniting with Pep Guardiola at City in the summer but, due to Arsenal failing to sign a replacement, the deal fell through. But he was always expected to join the Etihad club in January with his contract quickly running out. However, with his incredible wage demands, the Citizens decided against pursuing a move for Sanchez. Instead, their Manchester rivals stole in and snapped up the 29-year-old with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction.Nobody saw that coming a few weeks ago.United fans are obviously delighted at getting a world-class player but the fact they beat their ’noisy neighbours’ to Sanchez’s signature made it even sweeter. But City didn’t seem to care too much.In fact, they revealed a signing of their own at the EXACT same time as United announced they had completed a deal for Sanchez.
