Arsenal fans were probably relieved after Alexis Sanchez’s departure from the club was officially announced.
While there’s very little doubt the Chilean is a world-class player, the transfer saga had rumbled on for far too long and Sanchez’s commitment to the cause was starting to be questioned.
And while Gooners feared they would lose him on a free transfer, they’ve actually exchanged him for a very good player - Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
But the north London club aren’t finished there.
They’re being linked with a sensational move for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the Gabon international seemingly fed up with life in Germany.
Adding Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang in the same transfer window would be rather spectacular.
However, with a little more than a week remaining in the transfer window, there’s a fear they won't agree a deal with Dortmund for their striker.
WHY AUBAMEYANG'S MOVE MIGHT BE DELAYED
And the latest report from German outlet Bild could also be a worry.
They’re suggesting the move could be delayed due to Aubameyang being scheduled to speak as a witness in the trial against the man accused of attacking the Borussia Dortmund team bus last year.
Both Aubameyang and Marc Barta - who was injured in the blast - are set to appear in the trial against defendant Sergej W on Monday, January 29.
What’s the issue?
Well, Bild are suggesting that the judge is worried Aubameyang would be difficult to reach if he’s in the middle of a transfer next Monday.
A court press release confirmed the presence of Barta and a Dortmund teammates, which read: "The jury court plans to hear one professional injured in the attack on the BVB bus, and another BVB professional on Monday, 29," the court announced in a press release.”
We’re not quite sure why it needs to be Aubameyang - and not another teammate - giving the witness statement but, if the move is delayed until after the court case, it leaves Arsenal just two days to get the deal wrapped up.
WENGER ON AUBAMEYANG
And, in his press conference on Tuesday morning, Arsene Wenger refused to comment on how close the deal with Aubameyang was.
"You never know how close you are," Wenger said.
"This is the kind of thing - he is one of the possible movements, but we have other things in mind as well. We have plenty of opportunities and the final decision is not made.
"At the moment we are not close to any deal, Aubameyang or anybody else."
