Like Robin van Persie, Alexis Sanchez has ruined his legacy as an Arsenal hero by leaving the Gunners in the lurch in favour of a lucrative move to Manchester United. And just like the Dutchman, it’s safe to assume that Sanchez will be abused by the scorned travelling supporters for the full 90 minutes when Arsenal take on United at Old Trafford in their next meeting at the end of April. However, if Sanchez’s move to United ends up proving as successful as Van Persie’s, he won’t care a jot.The ambitious Chile international has joined Jose Mourinho’s side in order to win major honours - although the huge pay packet no doubt helped sway his decision, too - and knows he can become the main man at Old Trafford.Handed the club’s iconic No. 7 shirt - worn by legends including George Best, Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo - Sanchez will relish the opportunity of adding his name to that esteemed list of United greats. Some people, however, believe Sanchez is nothing more than a mercenary.Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown described the South American forward as “the biggest mercenary in football” last week - and he’s not the only person thinking the same thing.

Seamus sums up what Arsenal fans think about Sanchez

However, it’s another, rather unlikely, person who has summed up the feelings of Arsenal supporters with his comments about Sanchez.

WWE superstar Sheamus has voiced his thoughts and the footage is being shared across social media by the Gunners’ faithful.

Asked about the Sanchez deal, Sheamus replied: “Who? I thought he retired 20 years ago!”

“The thing is about Alexis Sanchez, it’s all about money,” he continued. “Last year he stopped caring, stopped putting any effort in. Why do you want a player like that? Why would you want a player who throws his toys out the pram just so he can get a move to somewhere else with more money.”

The three-time WWE champion, who supports Liverpool, then added: “I’ve got no respect for Sanchez. When I first saw Sanchez at Arsenal I had a lot of respect, all of this [stuff] that happens, now no respect.”

“It’s just like [Philippe] Coutinho. Coutinho half-way through the season wants to leave Liverpool, let him go.

“Arsenal are much better without him, they can build a team around players who actually want to play for the club.

“Sanchez is overpriced asparagus from Whole Foods. Just too pricey, too expensive.”

Ouch.

Mkhitaryan first - next up Aubameyang

Despite their understandable annoyance at Sanchez’s decision to leave Arsenal for United, the Gunners’ supporters hope Henrikh Mkhitaryan can step in and fill the void left by the Chilean.

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, meanwhile, is also close to sealing a move to the Emirates Stadium.
