Henrikh Mkhitaryan pinpointed one Arsenal player in particular as someone he can't wait to play with following his move from Manchester United: Mesut Ozil.

And it's no wonder following the German's magical display against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday night.

Ozil may not have assisted or scored at the Emirates Stadium, but Chelsea's players couldn't get near him as he glided across the pitch, looking to create opportunities.

"Here at Arsenal I know that lots of players move a lot and it's incredible the way the team plays," said new boy Mkhitaryan. "I will do my best to assist them as well.

"I think it will be really fun to play alongside Ozil. Everyone knows he's a fantastic player, he's an assist king.

"His intelligence, the way that he can understand the game, reads the game, plus the way he gives pace to the game and of course his final decision."

Ozil is Arsenal's best passer of the ball by a mile and he demonstrated that in the second 45 minutes against Chelsea in particular.

In fact, he should have had an assist when he squared the ball for Alex Iwobi, who was unable to beat Willy Caballero despite being one vs one.

Ninety-five percent pass completion tells you all you need to know about the accuracy of Ozil's passing in Wednesday's semi-final, though he provided two moments of real magic.

In the two videos below, the 29-year-old produces a beautiful shoulder pass to Nacho Monreal while under pressure and then chops the ball around a Chelsea player to Jack Wilshere.

MESUT'S GOT THE MAGIC

Sign him up, Arsene. Ozil's contract expires in the six months' time, but Wenger hopes a new deal can be negotiated so the Germany midfielder can continue playing alongside Mkhitaryan.

"Mkhitaryan can play on the wing or in midfield, so I believe he can play very well in many positions," said Wenger when asked about the two playmakers.

"That can help us as well because he can play together with Ozil as well as playmaker, so overall it's a good move.

"We're replacing a very good player with a very good player, a world-class player with a world-class player.

"He's a very complete player. He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he’s very committed as well. I must say he’s a player who has all the attributes."
