Chelsea have gone about their search for Alvaro Morata's deputy in, well, questionable fashion.

Reports have linked the Blues with an assortment of random Premier League strikers with the likes of Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes, Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke all linked with a Stamford Bridge switch.

As Deadline Day looms, though, it seems the club's search has matured with Edin Dzeko and Olivier Giroud emerging as the main candidates to displace Michy Batshuayi.

The former appeared to be the centre of Chelsea's efforts with the club trying to cut a double deal with AS Roma that would include the signing of Emerson Palmieri.

Were that approach to fail, the Blues would turn their attention to Giroud who will no longer be used as a makeweight in Arsenal's approach for Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Chelsea's search for a striker

As a result, the transfer decisions of both Arsenal and Chelsea will be thoroughly interlinked in the coming days and a single move from one of the clubs could change the approach of the other.

The situation makes for a complicated web of potential transfers and one that Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol tried to untangle on Friday afternoon.

The update delivered the news that talks had stalled with Dzeko and that, as a result, Chelsea were eyeing that oh-so pivotal loan move for Giroud. Furthermore, it was then claimed that Tottenham's deal for Lucas Moura could be pulled into the drama.

Spurs have struck a deal with the ex-Manchester United target despite the fact Dortmund are eyeing him for an Aubameyang replacement who, in turn, would replace Giroud who could move in place of Dzeko.

Complicated, right? Take a look at the tweet that caused so much debate:

How thoroughly lucid, Kaveh.

Fans are absolutely baffled

It goes to show how just one transfer can cause a chain reaction of events for top, rival clubs. Check out the bewildered reaction of fans below:

The closest deal to completion of those mentioned is Moura and Tottenham which, interestingly so, could present a stumbling block in Arsenal's move for Aubameyang.

With Giroud reluctant to move to Germany, Dortmund will still want a replacement and it appears that their options are dwindling by the minute.

Only time will well tell just how accurate Solhekol's complicated update will prove, but the entanglement of Premier League clubs make it an exciting proposition.
