Earlier this month, Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic made a strong statement when asked whether or not he should be named to his first NBA All-Star team.

"I don't care about that anymore," Dragic, who is averaging 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the 27-21 Heat, told Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel. "I don't care about that, because I want to have a vacation with my family. That's more important than All-Star."

He continued, ”I already deserved it; I didn't get it. So I'm past that. It's not like I follow this all the time. I'm still going to do my job, don't get me wrong. I'm still going to try to be the best player I can. But if that's not going to bring me the All-Star Game, I'm good with that."

The 31-year-old floor general didn’t end up making the team, as Bradley Beal, Al Horford, Kevin Love, Kyle Lowry, Victor Oladipo, Kristaps Porzingis and John Wall were named as Eastern Conference reserves behind starters LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid.

After not caring earlier in the month, Dragic apparently seems to have slightly changed his tune, judging by his reaction to getting snubbed yet again.

"I don’t understand this anymore because back in the day with the Suns, I had the statistics and they said our record is not good. This year we have a good record, and it’s not [enough]. So it is what it is,” he told Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post

That doesn't sound like someone who doesn't care.

As of Friday, Dragic ranks 10th among NBA point guards in scoring (6th in the East) and is tied for 21st in assists per game. He also ranks 12th in minutes per game (32.9), also sixth in the East.

Despite the fact that he has been one of the main reasons for his team’s surprising success, one can easily make the claim that Dragic’s resume doesn’t stack up against Irving, Lowry or Wall this year. Further, it seems as though both Kemba Walker and Ben Simmons, also Eastern Conference point guards who didn’t make the game, would rank ahead of him if a spot opened up.

Judging by all of the point guard talent in the East and across the league, it seems as though Dragic’s chances at ever making an All-Star game are not very promising at this point in his career.
